Did you know that more than 80% of communication does not depend on words, but on other factors such as the tone, the context, the expressions, the cultural background, and even the speaker’s intention? Of course, translators and interpreters need to be highly skilled in at least two languages. But most importantly, being a good translator and interpreter requires ethics, preparation and knowledge of the cultural background in the source and target languages. My personal and academic path have led me to live and learn in different countries, thus preparing me to work as a translator and interpreter in five languages: English, Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese, French.
